“Hanging loads,
pawn on the opposite side”
“The repentant”
is the representation of an accumulation of energy, of a static nature full of
tension as if it was the tension of hanging loads.
As a
representation, it allows the spectator to find his self “on the other side”,
that protect him from the danger of a big truth falling down on his head.
“The repentant”
is like the protagonist in a drama of Brecht: we can’t know who he is, where
he is coming from and where he is going; such an anonymous protagonist can
represent us better than anyone else.
A sculpture
represents him as a lonely person, dominated from a huge fragile stratified
construction, looming up in front of his walk… at the end of a maybe long, but
anyway tiring travel. Then there are yellow sponges, like the kitchen or
toilet ones… impregnated of experiences to wash the sins out. A body of pixel,
in an anxiety – inducing ambient, poised between claustrophobia and
agoraphobia: five narrow and spongy walls, open in the empty space and a chair
in front of the abyss. A body of flesh sweat and veins full of blood.
Our existence
becomes unsafe. Then we can find the balance again even though it’s uncertain,
and our existence restarts to quiver.
Hermetic
subtitles driving us into a labyrinthine route marked from the progressive
increasing of the reality level, because the knowledge of the complex and
disturbing reality like the knowledge of ourselves can be just gradual; it’s
an ontological and pedagogical necessity.
In fact we are
called to be present to an inquisitorial trail with eschatological tones,
which through a quadripartite “construction” is coming closer and closer.
There are four
layers – acts – movements and one sculpture – monument, wich is like a file of
appeal.
Gaido and
Lappano break up the traditional structure of the dramaturgical representation
as if it would pass through a prism that could release the expressive
potentialities of art by different linguistic medias of the
contemporary world.
This is a
medial plurality coming from the trust in the ability of art to set the truth,
conceived in a relative perspective and forcing in the limit of the same form
announcing the truth.
